SARDS was founded in 1996 and officially registered in 1998 under the Karnataka Societies Act. It focuses on working with the poorest and most marginalized communities, especially in the northern districts of Karnataka. Since 1998, SARDS has supported these communities by organizing them and providing inputs to strengthen their capacity for better living. The organization is grateful to foreign and local donors, as well as government departments, for their support through grants that made these developmental activities possible.

OUR VISION
We envision creating opportunities for depressed people to over come, and enable the rural poor- including women, children and men belonging to marginal farmers the landless dalits, tribal people and unemployed youth and weaker section of the society – to move towards sustainable development, through an overall increase in their knowledge and skills in areas that directly affect their slandered and quality of life.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide just and equality to all and alleviating rural / slum poverty by promoting, community based institutions; with the focus on enabling the marginalized and weaker section of the society to participate in the process of development by strengthening their resource base and capability through improved knowledge and skills, to provide support to alleviation of poverty.
